According to Transport for London (TfL), there are still more than 100,000 HGVs currently operating in London without a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) Safety permit. Application time can take up to 40 days from the submission date, and from 1st March 2021 all Heavy Good Vehicles (HGVs) over 12T travelling through Greater London without a permit will be fined up to £550/day. This new legislation will be in place 24 hours a day, every day of the year! 

What is a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) DVS Safe System? Do you need one?

All Heavy Good Vehicles (HGVs) over 12T in weight that have a “zero star-rating” and have to travel through Greater London will need to have a Direct Vision Standard (DVS) Safe System fitted onto the vehicle before applying for a Safety Permit, or else you will be fined.

A compliant DVS Safe System consists of several vehicle safety components. If you would like to get them individually, most of them are available from Durite.
